Our travel agency offers a trip of an adventure of walking into nature in which you can enjoy of a breathtaking landscape full of spiritually and majestic mountains and snow mountains such as the Salkantay and Humantay. This journey passes through the magnificent Salkantay mountain of 6,710 meters, one of the highest and most impressive mountains of the Peruvian Andes.
This sacred mountain, served as reference to the astrology observation to the Incas during the solstice and solar equinox and their alignment with the Pleyiades, south cross and Yana Phuyu (dark clouds). These dark constellations were a very important integration of the concept geographic sacred of the Incas.
This alternate route to Machu Picchu presents a diversity ecological floors and ecosystems as lakes, river streams, mountains, and forest with a variety of flora and fauna that belong to the zone and with different temperatures depending on the altitude.

Itinerario.

Day 1:BEGINNING OF THE TOUR

We begin by pick you from your hotel at 5 am to go on bus tour for around 2 and half hours. During the trip we can observe beautiful mountains with different floral and faunas climates that surround the Cusco valley and various Andean communities that grow agricultures fields of potatoes, corn and vegetables crops.
Afterwards we reach to the town of Mollepata, where you get the option of eating breakfast and get last minutes purchases (raingear, batteries, sunscreen etc).
Then our transportation takes us to Challacanca where we are introduced to the rest of the crew (cook, muleteer, mules).
Before we continue we will give a brief safety instructions and guidelines. During this walk we can observe the snow covered mountain of Humantay.
When we reach to the camp Soraypampa (altitude. 3.850 M) we can observe the impressive Salcantay Mountain, place where we get our Andean lunch, later we keep walking to the beautiful and mystic Humantay lake, where the are views of glaciers and lakes. By afternoon we get dinner and rest.

Day 2:SORAYPAMPA – CHAULLAY.

After breakfast we prepared to endure our hardest part of the hike until we reach a denominated site Salkantaympa (4,100 meters) to rest. After a small break, we will go up to the highest peak of the hike Abra Salkantay 4,632 meters, we will make stops in both snow mountains of Humantay 5,917 meters and Salkantay 6,271 meters. In this place we will see a magnificent view of all mountain range; also we can see a path Original Inka in the process of collapsing and deteriorating over the years.
We will descend until we reach to Wayracpampa where we will have lunch. After enjoying food we will continue to descend until get to the cloudy forest and we will see the change of climate and vegetation. We keep moving until reaching to Chaullay where there is the camp site, then we will get dinner and rest from what was our roughest and longest day of the hike.

Day 3:CHAULLAY – LA PLAYA – SANTA TERESA (1,811 m.s.n.m)

We start our day by eating a satisfying breakfast then heading to our walk where we will observe crops of coca leaves, plantain, passion fruit, and other typical fruits that are grown in that area. We continue and will have lunch and a little break once we reach ‘’La playa’’ (2,200 m). After we finished our break we will take the bus that will take us to Santa Teresa, where there are thermal pools and we can spend the rest of the night.

Day 4: WIÑAY HUAYNA – MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

After powerful breakfast we will be heading to Hidroelectrica where we can later enjoy our lunch in a tourist restaurant. After that we continue to Machu Picchu town for 2 and half hours approximately. Our route goes through beautiful landscapes with waterfalls from glaciers, as well as a great variety of species of floral, fauna and butterflies. We will have a simple accommodation when we reach Machu Picchu and dinner in a tourist restaurant./p>

Día 5:AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHU PICCHU) – RETURN TO CUSCO

We will take the bus to take us to Macchu picchu where we will have a guided tour by one of our specialist for around 2 hours. There will be enough time to explore and wander around by yourself or visit Huayna Picchu if desired (not included on the tour).
After visiting the ruins of Machu picchu we will go back to the town of macchu picchu. In this town you will get to choose any restaurant of your interest to est. After finishing your meal you will need to get to the train station where it will take you directly to the station of Ollantaytambo (the ride is 1 hour and 30 minutes). Once you arrive to the destination, the bus will be waiting to take you to the city of Cusco.
