Manu National Park is located in the Providence of Cusco and is considered a world heritage site.
We´ll leave from Cusco in the morning, crossing inter-Andean, picturesque valleys. We will pass rural communities and ascend to the high zone of Paucartambo. On the way, we will visit the funerary towers (Chullpas de Minamarca). Then we will ascend through the mysterious cloud forest, full of beautiful orchids, heliconias, and native ferns. We will stop to give you the opportunity to see the national bird, the cock of the rocks (gallito de las rocas). If you are lucky, you might find the only bear in South America, the spectacled bear (el oso de anteojos). In the afternoon, we will reach the watchtower, and from there, take a boat 30 minutes to the lodge where you will spend the night in our typical hostel with toilets and showers.
After breakfast, we will walk to viewpoints and explore other areas around the lodge. You will spend the night in the lodge with available toilets and showers.
Option 1 (Price Included) – Canoeing: From Pilcopata we can canoe 1 and a half hours (I and II) through the Koñeq River and/or Madre de Dios River to enjoy the landscape or swim in the refreshing waters.
Option 2 (Price Included) – Canopy Tour: You can go from tree to tree on aerial platforms using harnesses on horizontal cables with a system of lines with which you´ll glide with great speed through the treetops of the incredible Amazon jungle. You´ll finish by rappelling from a height of 15 meters (50 ft.) down to the jungle floor.
After an energizing breakfast, we will continue with our itinerary, traveling by boat to appreciate the parrot´s clay lick. They come down each morning to extract clay which is necessary for their dietary balance. At the end of this activity you will return to our lodge to have breakfast and pack, then we will navigate through the Madre de Dios high river to the hot springs surrounded by our beautiful jungle. After relaxing in the water and eating lunch, we will continue to the village of Boca Manu. On the way, you´ll be able to observe birds such as stingrays, herons, several species of martin fishers, swallows, and flycatchers.
At dawn, we will make another brief stop at the Limonal guard post, and enter the reserved area. We´ll start a trip along the Manu River towards the heart of the reserved area, approximately 4 hours from Lake Salvador, where we will spend two nights in our safari camp. During the trip you will be able to appreciate numerous species such as macaws, herons, rosettes, capybaras, caimans, river turtles, and with luck a big cat. In the afternoon, we will continue our walk in search of wildlife in this flawless jungle.
Probablemente nos despierte el mono aullador declarando su territorio. Antes de desayunar tendremos una matutina caminata para encontrarnos algunos animales que están en busca de su alimento. Exploraremos cocha salvador usando catamarán para poder ver a las nutrias gigantes, una especie en vía de extinción al que se puede ver pescando, jugado o nadando; al caimán negro, al hoatzin, flora interesante de sus alrededores. Visitaremos Cocha Otorongo y su torre de observación estratégicamente ubicada a 15 metros. Posibilidad de hacer una corta caminata nocturna para búsqueda de sapo americano, ranas, cornetas, ranas arbóreas y una gran variedad de coloridos e interesantes insectos.
We will get up early to explore the area around our camp. You´ll be surprised to see the giant ceibas, colorful butterflies, and probably the curious monkey squirrels, capuchins, and mussels. After breakfast, we´ll pack and board our boat that will take us downstream slowly through the Manu River to continue the experience of observing sajinos, alligators, turtles, and birds. We will arrive at sunset at Boca Manu, where you´ll spend the night in the hostel.
We will get up very early to canoe down the river to Port Atalaya, then we will transport you back to Cusco. You´ll arrive at night. END OF OUR SERVICES.
